I am writing this before heading out of town, so it is brief. But I wanted to be sure to announce the good news that we have found a new youth minister for St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community! After much review, discussion and prayer with the search committee and staff, I am happy to say that we have hired Mr. Doug Stewart to come on board full time to work with and minister to our youth from 4th through 12th grades, with a special focus on our high school teens. Doug will also develop a ministry for our young adults. He comes to us from Houston, along with his wife, Brittany, and two children. He is very excited to be moving to Carson City and joining our parish family. He also very much looks forward to working with our good staff who has had the opportunity to meet him already. He will begin heading west around August 13th and may even be in Carson City by the time you read this. We’ll have an opportunity for everyone to meet Doug at masses in the next couple of weeks. Please keep him and his family in your prayers during this time of transition for them. We are blessed to have them with us. A warm and hardy welcome to the Stewart family!
A few folks have asked about our parish pictorial
directory. We had a total of 305 households
participate - far shy of our 2200+ families – but a good start this time around. The publishers are waiting for some information and planning from our office, but they hope to have the directory complete and out to us before the end of October. Thanks to all who participated and a special thanks to Kari Anderson who coordinated this effort!
It’s not too early to put the Basque Festival on
your calendar: Sunday, September 21st. Gates
open at 11:00am; an outdoor mass will begin at
noon; dinner from 1:00pm till 3:00pm with lots of
snacks and drinks and games in between. Please
plan to come and enjoy and support our parish
school and youth programs!
Let’s keep in mind and prayer all of our college
students of the parish as they prepare to return to school, especially those studying out of state who may be travelling this week. Summer is quickly waning!
Blessings upon you all this 20th week in
Ordinary Time!
Fr. Chuck
